Text Box: ...A , Tennessee-based group is working to help children, families, and birth parents cope with adoption. Helping Kids Cope is not an adoption agency but a pro-life group whose mission is to help in the adoption process -- for the sake of children. Founder Jennifer Dozier says Helping Kids Cope grants three types of awards: one to help adoptive parents defray the cost barriers, another to help birth parents get an education, and a third to help foster children with their education so they can become self-sufficient. She shares that before she became a mother herself, she worked in an adoption agency, counseling birth mothers and adoptive parents. Both groups, Dozier says, always had the same concerns: adoptive parents stated they would adopt more children if they had the funds, and birth parents said they wanted to go and get an education. She says when she became a stay-at-home mom, she developed Helping Kids Cope to help meet those needs. Dozier adds that the pro-abortion side talks about "choice" -- but the choice of a loving adoption is rarely discussed in the media. She says there are no other groups offering this kind of service, and the group is in need of financial assistance to help grant the awards. [by Rusty Pugh]
